New Yorkers: What to Do if You Find One of These on Your Subaru
A trend is sweeping the nation involving owners of certain vehicles... and it's just reached New York.
It's usually not a good feeling to discover that a stranger has been messing with your car, but whether it's a coupon on your windshield (why do they always look like parking tickets?) or what's recently being left on unsuspecting Hudson Valley, NY vehicles, looks can be deceiving.
New Trend Targeting Owners of Subaru Vehicles
The new trend is specifically targeting Subaru owners, but luckily, it's something positive. While local authorities have recently issued warnings about other vehicle-related events, like criminals potentially leaving zip ties on vehicle door handles for nefarious reasons, Subaru owners are finding cows. But why?
What is "Mooing" a Subaru?
The new trend, called "mooing", is the joyful response Subaru drivers have launched to join in on the fun of recognizing a fellow owner. Much like how Jeep drivers have been "ducking" each other for years by leaving small rubber ducks on Jeeps found parked in public, Subaru owners are leaving cows (below).
"Mooing" Subaru Vehicles in the Hudson Valley and Beyond
"I DID IT!!! I moo’d my first Subaru in my own neighborhood in Central Florida", posted Deborah Z.C. in the Moo Moo Subaru Facebook group. "Mooing" involves leaving a small cow figurine on a random Subaru, accompanied by a note explaining the act (above). Recently, "mooings" have appeared in the Hudson Valley, NY as well (below).
"Mooing" Subaru Vehicles in Kingston, NY
"Had no idea this was a thing in NY, walking out to my car and seeing this made my day 100x better", posted Sophie C., who was "mooed" in Kingston, NY (above). While the fun trend has seemingly caught on like wildfire (Moo Moo Subaru currently has more than 72,000 members), it still has left many people wondering: why cows?

Why You May Be Seeing Cows on Your Subaru in the Hudson Valley, NY
While the link between Subaru vehicles and cows is tenuous ("the stars on the logo are in the Taurus constellation", shared a Facebook group member), that hardly matters. The important thing is that this random act of silliness is spreading joy across the country, with everything from Reddit forums to literal Amazon storefronts focused on these tiny cows.
Participating in "Moo Moo Subaru" in the Hudson Valley, NY
"I bought these to use for Moo Moo Subaru. They attach to cars nicely for a small trinket. I’m giving 4 stars because some of them arrived with horns broken off", read a recent 4-star review of small Highland cows for sale on Amazon (above). There's a special message available from the "Moo Moo Subaru" movement (moo-vement?), too.
Your Own "Moo Moo Subaru" Kit
PDFs (above) are available to download and print for free from the Moo Moo Subaru Facebook group. "Move Over Jeep Jeep Duck! Here Comes Moo Moo Subaru! You have been Mooed...", the message begins with a QR code linked to the Facebook page.
