Following a traffic stop in Ulster County, police arrested a teenager for allegedly possessing illegal handguns.

On Monday around 6:30 p.m., Town of Ulster Police pulled over a car driven by 19-year-old Benjamin J. Weiser, of Scarsdale on Route 209 for not having a license plate attached to the vehicle.

Police say during their investigation they found Weiser to be in possession of two illegal handguns and possessed a fake driver’s license from Connecticut.

Weiser was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, felony, possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor, and traffic infractions for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, no inspection certificate, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Weiser was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Justice Court and released in his own recognizance to reappear in the Town of Ulster Justice Court on May 25.
