A traffic stop on Route 9W led to the discovery of an assortment of drugs and the arrest of a 47-year-old man on multiple charges.

State Police from Catskill pulled over a car driven by Brian Morrill, of Cairo, on Route 9W in the Town of Coeymans for traffic infractions. During the interview, Troopers allege that Morrill showed signs of being impaired. The 47-year-old was given a field sobriety test which he failed. Police say Morrill physically resisted arrest and tried to run away from police.

Police also allege that they found Morrill to be in possession of 7.2 grams of crack cocaine, heroin, multiple oxycodone pills, a crack pipe, hypodermic needles, and a switchblade knife.

Morrill was charged with 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 4th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. Morrill was also charged with 5 misdemeanors. Possession of a hypodermic needle, two counts of 7th- degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired, and resisting arrest.

Morrill was arraigned in the Town of Coeymans Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail with no bail. He’s due back at the Town of Coeymans Court on a future date.
