If you live near New Paltz, your dog just got happier. Our dedicated companions have been happily home with us but are probably ready for some canine companionship. This is why I am sure that the folks behind the dog park in New Paltz have been working hard to reopen. On Monday, the For Paws Ulster County Dog Park announced that they have reopened but you will have to follow new guidelines.

If you aren't familiar with this dog park, it is located at 249 Libertyville Road in New Paltz. It is on two acres that is owned by Ulster County that is leased by both the Town of New Paltz and a nonprofit named For Paws of Ulster. According to the information on their Facebook page For Paws of Ulster was established in 2009. It is their job to maintain the lease and the property. For this reason, they are always looking for volunteers and donations.

If you are one of the folks that enjoys this park consider doing more if you can. The nonprofit that runs the park is looking for board members. They also stated in their recent Facebook post that they may have to reevaluate park if they don't get more assistance soon. "We want everyone to be able to enjoy the dog park, but if we do not have help in maintaining and respecting this nearly 2 acre resource, we will reevaluate the future of the dog park."
