If you have been looking for ways to give back to your community or you have always wanted to volunteer for something but didn’t want to start something new over the summer because of vacation schedules. Fall is almost here and it’s the perfect time to help out others here in the Hudson Valley, particularly our seniors.

For many seniors, having meals delivered to their home is a lifesaver.  With some of the volunteers for the Home Delivered Meals program offered by the Dutchess County Office for the Aging being snowbirds and getting ready to head south for the winter, the program could use some individuals who could fill in during the fall and winter months and help keep our seniors fed.

If you or someone you know is able to help, please call Nutrition Coordinator Nimesh Bhargava at nbhargava@dutchessny.gov or (845) 486-2555.

In addition, with 8 Senior Friendship Centers around the county, in Beacon, East Fishkill, Millerton, Pawling, the City of Poughkeepsie, the Town of Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck (Rock City), and South Amenia, they could also use some volunteers to help staff these centers as well. If this is more to your interests, please call the Office of the Aging at (845) 486-2555 to find out more.
