George Slayton, A US Amy Veteran, Dies at 98

George Slayton was born on September 11, 1918 in New York City to Harry and Rose Slayton. George passed away on January 25, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Frances Oates Slayton and his five children Ronald, Dennis, Patricia (and husband Steven) and Richard, and Joanne DeForest. He is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Robert and Jacob and four greatgrandchildren Victoria, Catherine, Michael and Daniel. He will be remembered by his brother Irving and many nieces and nephews. George served his country in the U.S. Armed Forces, Army from 1941 through 1946 in World War II, serving in Europe. After the Army, he moved his young family to Wappingers Falls and worked for IBM until he retired in 1986. After retirement, George and Frances spent half their year in Port St. Lucie Florida.
