George (Moe) Morris Williams, a Virginia Resident, Dies at 81
George (Moe) Morris Williams, 81 of Virginia, born September 3, 1936 in New London, CT to the late Noah and Macy (Stanley) Williams of Hartford, CT., went home to the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2017.
George was also predeceased by his siblings: Idah, Betsy, Thelma, Grant and Gloria. He is survived by his sisters Nancy and Charlotte; his five children, Lee Grant, Lisa, Lynnette, Leslie and Richie; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; countless children that he raised as his own; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
As a child George (Moe) sold pony rides and was known to this day as the Number One Peddler, from paper flowers to hot asphalt, from 84 West all the way to Virginia. He taught many his trade that he knew and so loved. He raised his family in Rockland County, NY and migrated to Connecticut and then to Virginia with his family, where he spent his last days. His very first grandchild Leslie was at his side holding his hand while he went home to the Lord. We thank God for such a beloved Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Papa was a Rolling Stone and will be truly missed and forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, September 29 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday at the funeral home, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
