George J. Kieley, Jr., a New Palrz Resident, Dies at 86
George J. Kieley, Jr., of New Paltz, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Woodland Pond at New Paltz. He was born in Stoneco, N.Y. November 12, 1930, the son of George J. Kieley Sr. and Concetta M. DiMartino. On October 12, 1957, in Cornwall, he married Norma Harle who survives at home. They were former residents of the Town of LaGrange. George was employed at IBM, Poughkeepsie for 37 years, as a program manager in the APD documentation and release program. He was an active member of the Town of LaGrange Lions Club, where he served as President for a time. George was also a coach for the Town of LaGrange Senior and Little League, a coach for the IBM youth baseball program, active support member of Cub Scout pack #122, and co-founder of the Arlington Band Parents Association. He served in the U.S. Air Force from '50-'54 as a staff sergeant in the security service. George was dedicated to his immediate and extended family. He had a deep and abiding love for everyone and was in his happiest in the company of his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and a great source of pride, joy and laughter. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Roberson (Roger) of Highland, Sons, Steven Kiely (Barb) of Poughkeepsie, George Kieley III of Avon, Ct., and Christopher Kieley of Poughkeepsie, Grandchildren, Schuyler, Annalise, James and Delaney. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Delaney and Frances Lauri Barrett. Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 9:30 AM at St. Marys Church, Clinton St., Wappingers Falls.
