While this was a direct flight, some passengers made a stop in Mecca, where there was a flu outbreak. However, it's reported that some people were feeling sick before the flight had taken off.
When the plane landed, it was taken to a staging area where the Center for Disease Control and police checked passengers. 10 to 12 passengers were taken to the hospital after landing, according to the article.
