Armed Robber Flees Staatsburg Store After Clerk Fights Back [VIDEO]

New York State Police need your help to catch a thief after an attempted armed robbery at a gas station in Staatsburgh.

New York State Police in Rhinebeck say, Tuesday night around 8:00 p.m., a white male entered the Mini Mart Citgo Station holding a shotgun and demanding money from the clerk. The gas station is located at 4912 Route 9 in Staatsburg.

The store clerk attempted to overpower the suspect and the suspected armed robber fled the store.

A brief altercation then occurred outside of the store. With police saying the suspect fired a round from his shotgun. The bullet only hit the ground.

The suspect fled the scene and headed northbound on Route 9. He was seen driving a dark colored vehicle with orange New York plates. Police describe him as around 5’10” tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a camouflage mask and clothing.
