Daniel Joseph Vignogna Jr., a New Paltz Resident, Dies at 64
Daniel Joseph Vignogna Jr. of New Paltz, NY entered into rest on Friday, July 28, 2017 at New York-Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center, New York. He was 64. Son of the late Daniel J. Sr. and Margaret C. (DeMarco) Vignogna, he was born June 23, 1953 in Newburgh.
First and foremost, Daniel was a father and family man. He had a zest for cooking, especially Monday night dinners with the family. He was a big fan of playing poker at the Borgata hotel in Atlantic City. The highlight of his year was going to the fantasy baseball draft and talking baseball with his fellow team members throughout the season. He greatly enjoyed talking on the phone with Sam Cerone and Gene Tallerico.
Daniel graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1971 and Orange County Community College in 1974. He was a retired cook from OCFS Red Hook Residential Center in Red Hook. He owned and operated the restaurant, Danny’s at Mac’s Place, on Broadway in Newburgh in the 1980s.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn M. (Zeider) Vignogna; his daughter, Victoria A. (Vignogna) Fabella, her husband, Josh, and their children, J.P. and Lia; his daughter, Danielle L. (Vignogna) Mitchell, her husband, Brian, and their children, Jackson, Addelyn and Nathan; nephew, Anthony J. Vignogna, his wife, Holly, and their children, Joseph and Justin; niece, Maria T. (Vignogna) Grace and her husband, Jesse; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph D. and Louis J. Vignogna.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
