Founded in 1958, The County Players is a community theater that will be celebrating their 60th anniversary next year. According to their website they have presented over 200 productions since their conception.

Acquired in 1977, they call The Academy Theatre in The Village of Wappingers their home. I’ve attended a performance there and was not disappointed. I found the room to be large enough to create a good atmosphere but small enough to make me feel like I was involved with the performance.

To kick off their 60th anniversary, The County Players are holding a few special events to support their artistic programs and efforts to expand.

On Sept. 10, an opening celebration will be held at The Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls. A Hudson River cruise will embark from Poughkeepsie on Oct. 14 with Hudson Valley Cruises.

County Players Falls Theatre Tour takes place on Feb. 11, 2018. This event is free
