Cecil Mann, a Town of Newburgh Resident, Dies at 94
Cecil Mann, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was 94.
Son of the late William and Harriet (Heane) Mann, he was born on May 23, 1923 in Nottinghamshire, England. Cecil immigrated from England to the United States in 1948.
In his early years, Cecil was Vice President, and Director of Engineering for Lightron, Newburgh and he later worked as a design consultant for LSI until his retirement. Cecil a 32nd Degree Mason was a life member of Old Well-St. John’s Lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of Pyramid Shriner Lodge No.9 in Stratford, CT. Cecil was a member of the Bull Terrier Club of America and he and his wife raised bull terriers, showed and judged for many years. He served as President of the club, and in 1973 took Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Survivors include his companion Carol Rogers; one brother, Rex (Chris) Mann of DE; one niece, Christina De Cola of Sandy Hook CT; one nephew, William (Jen) Mann of MA; and several great nieces and nephews. Cecil was predeceased by his wife Irene (Hudson) Mann in 2002.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 105 Grand St., Newburgh. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk CT.
