Carmela “Millie” Carrozza, an Area Resident, Dies at 106
HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Carmela “Millie” Carrozza, 106, died peacefully on December 28, 2017. Millie, a 33-year area resident, formerly lived in Pine Bush and the Bronx.
Born in New York City on March 20, 1911, Millie was the daughter of the late Luigi and Catherine (Montefiorte) DeLuca. On June 22, 1930 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, she married Alfred Carrozza who predeceased her on December 31, 1989.
Millie was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and knitting. Most of all, Millie will be remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Millie is survived by her children and their spouses, Louis and Frances Carrozza, Ted and Pat Carrozza, and Alfred and Janet Carrozza, Jr.; her grandchildren, Alfred, Alfred, Veronica, Catherine, Cynthia, Louis, Christina, Ted, Tracy, Joanmarie, and Janetann; her 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also predeceased by her son Col. Vincent Carrozza (US Army-Retired), her siblings, Anthony, Pasquale, Dominick, and Barbara; and her daughter-in-law, Kate Carrozza.
The family would like to thank the Vassar Warner Home in Poughkeepsie for their care and compassion over the last four years. Donations may be made in her memory to the Vassar Warner Home.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Columba Church followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
