Bernice Pfleger of Plattekill, and Town of Newburgh, formerly of Long Lake, New York, a retired sewing machine operator for Bearse Manufacturing Co. in New Windsor entered into rest on Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was 90.

Daughter of the late Theodore and Beatrice Sherwood, Bernice was born December 1, 1926 in Newburgh.

She was a very active member of the Long Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Loved to go hunting and fishing with her husband and sons, was an avid bingo player, enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. Bernice's favorite color was purple.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Michelle) Pfleger of Wallkill and Ronald (Ann) Pfleger of High Point, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Aaron Pfleger in 2009 and son, Douglas Pfleger in 1994, and daughter, Penny Pfleger in 1948.

Visitation for family and friends will take place from Wednesday, April 5th from 10 a.m. to Noon at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Route 32) Newburgh. Funeral service will commence at Noon following visitation. Minister Steve Sherwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
