Anthony Nicholas “Tony” Spano, son of the late Michael and Lucia (Carrione) Spano, passed quietly on May 17, 2017 at his home in Hillsdale, NY with his family by his side.

Born in Yonkers, NY on February 26, 1930, Tony is survived by his wife of 63 years Cynthia; his sister Rose Milone; his sons Leonard (Diane) Spano, Joseph Spano, William Spano and Frank (Nancy) Spano; and daughters Lucia Ricciardi, Elizabeth (Philip) Simonetti, Rosemarie (Gary) Bolster, Anne (Anthony) Montanarello, Mary Spano, Antonia (Michael) Bravato, Dorothea (James) McHugh, Joyce (Jason) Esposito and Cynthia Pisano. He was also blessed with 25 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Nicholas Anthony Spano; brothers, Leonard, William, Frank, Angelo, and Nicholas; and sister, Dorothea.

Tony enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved country living and found solace working in his yard and vegetable garden. He was a strong and proud man, whose devotion and love for his family was boundless. A Veteran of the United States Army, he served as a member of the 503rd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Tony was a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
