A new nationwide report determined which hospital in the Hudson Valley is the best. Two local hospitals are considered the best in the state.

U.S. News & World Report released their annual Best Hospitals rankings. The 2018-19 rankings were announced to help people and their doctors make informed choices about where they go to receive care.

The 29th annual rankings compared more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions.

Overal the highest ranking hospital in the nation is the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. The highest-ranking New York hospital was determined to be New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia. Mount Sinai Hospital from New York also made the top 20 nationwide.

Here in the Hudson Valley, two hospitals were ranked in the Top 20 for New York State.

Orange Regional Medical Center was the highest ranking hospital in the Mid-Hudson Valley. U.S. News & World Report ranked it as the 16th best hospital in New York. It was rated "high performing" in three adult specialties and two procedures and conditions. It scored high in patient safety, demonstrating a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.

Vassar Brother's was rated "high performing" in four adult procedures and conditions. It scored high in patient safety, demonstrating a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.
