How crazy can the weather be? Just a week ago we had sub-zero temperatures, wind-chill warnings, and snow that canceled schools throughout the Hudson Valley. Today, we have temperatures that are more spring-like than mid-January but don't worry,  tomorrow will be completely different.

While we are currently getting rain, it's going to switch over late this afternoon into this evening, which is why the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Sullivan County from 9 pm tonight through 4 pm on Saturday and for Ulster County from 3 am through 7 pm on Saturday.

In Sullivan County, rain will change to sleet and freezing rain before switching over to all snow. Accumulations could total a quarter of an inch of ice with 1 to 2 inches of snow. This will make for difficult travel conditions. In addition, with the fast-falling temperatures, wet surfaces will flash freeze and when you add in the gusty winds, there could also be power outages.

For those in Ulster County, the timing of the switch from rain to freezing rain and sleet will occur overnight resulting in about an inch of snow with a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation. Again, this will lead to difficult traveling conditions and could lead to scattered power outages.

Please be careful if you have to travel this evening through tomorrow. Remember you can call 511 for the latest road conditions.
