William James Smith Frew entered into rest on Saturday, April 29,2017, at Elant of Fishkill Nursing Home. He was 93.

Born in Newburgh on October 12, 1923 to Andrew and Mae Peck Frew, he served in the United States Navy from November 2, 1942 through January 20, 1946. Following his release from the Navy, he worked at Petelinz Milk Distributors and then became an electrician on October 25, 1954. He retired from Local 631 on November 1, 1988.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Helen Grefe Frew; his sisters, Theresa Salveati, May Benedict, Margaret Coan, Helen Brandel, and Jean Cromwell; and his brothers, George Frew and Thomas Frew. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 11am to 1pm at Brooks Funeral home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh with a funeral service at 1pm. Burial with Military Honors will follow immediately at Woodlawn Cemetery.
