Why The Hudson Valley Will Sweat Hard for 22 Minutes on Saturday
For 22 minutes on Saturday, there's going to be a lot of people in the Hudson Valley who will be short of breath.
A challenge has been thrown down to Hudson Valley residents by a Marist professor who is putting his best foot forward for his fellow veterans. Tom Zurhellen has spent the past two months walking across America to raise awareness for veteran suicide and homelessness. Since starting his journey in April, Zurhellen has walked 22 miles a day to raise awareness of the statistic that 22 veterans take their lives every day in America.
While Tom doesn't expect everyone to go to the extreme of walking across America with him, he is challenging the public to spend just 22 minutes exercising on June 22. You can bike, run, jog, dance or do just about anything that makes you sweat for 22 minutes.
If you do participate in the challenge, Zurhellen asks you to share it on social media using the hashtag #vetzerochallenge. To learn more about Veteran Zero and to contribute to Zurhellen's fundraiser to help out homeless veterans, you can visit the organization's website.
And be sure to tune in to the Boris and Robyn Show every Monday morning at 8am to hear Tom live from the road as he updates everyone on his progress. This week marks the halfway point in Nebraska. Zurhellen is expected to reach Poughkeepsie by August.
Listen to the Boris & Robyn Show weekday mornings from 6AM to 10AM on 101.5 WPDH through your WPDH mobile app. Connect with WPDH on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
