It's a hot topic, especially this time of year. But this year is different.

Since we're all stuck at home looking for things to do, why not go on an ice cream road trip around the Hudson Valley.

I saw an article on TheDailyMeal.Com that said the best ice cream in New York was a place called Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream in New York City. While I'm sure it's great with its 88 flavors, I think the Hudson Valley is home to some of the most delicious homemade local ice cream.

And I don't think I'm alone.

Earlier on the show we asked our listeners to call and text in with some of their go-to ice creams shops in the Hudson Valley. From Dutchess to Orange and Sullivan, we got a ton of responses.

What better way to enjoy summer and support our local businesses who are taking a little bit of a hit due to the pandemic.

Here are a few of the great responses we got:

Tom from Hyde Park: "Nana’s in Hyde Park at the intersection of 9G and Haviland Road. They make this vanilla ice cream cup with peanut butter sauce , chocolate sauce and mini Reese’s m&m’s."

Rich from Newburgh: "Moo moo's in Cold Spring Mary Jane's Newburgh."

Nancy called into the show and filled us in on Dairy Delight in Florida, New York. She says their chocolate ice cream with coconut flakes is her favorite. Honestly, it sounds delicious like an ice cream Almond Joy.

We got a call from Derek who was very passionate about Kelly's Creamery in Dover Plains. He said they have a ton of flavors and that when he visits he gets their gelato.
