Police are warning Hudson Valley residents about an ongoing blacktop scam.

East Fishkill Police are investigating an attempt to scam an East Fishkill senior citizen in a driveway blacktop/ sealing incident.

Authorities say on July 17, an elderly woman was approached at her home and agreed to a resurfacing of her driveway.

After resurfacing the driveway, a few weeks later, the company returned and began spraying a substance on the newly covered driveway. The homeowner stated she did not agree to the follow-up work. However, the company continued to complete the job and demanded a large sum of money.

The homeowner refused. The workers then tried to reduce the price down until she order them off her property.

East Fishkill Police are actively investigating the incident and want everyone to be aware of the scam.

According to authorities, never agree to work by blacktop or home repair companies when they show up at your door. Take time to consult with your family members and others before agreeing to any work.

If the workers are at your door and attempting to intimidate you, call police!

If anyone feels they have been the victim of a similar scam or have been approached by a company you can identify, please contact East Fishkill Police Officer Stanis at 845-221-2111 and leave a message.
