NEWTON, NJ – Wanda L. Mertlik, 68, died on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center in Hackettstown, NJ.
Daughter of the late John W. and Anna (Decker) Odell, she was born in Stanfordville on September 11, 1948. Wanda worked in factories as a machine operator for most of her life. She later became a C.N.A. and worked at the Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill.
She resided in Dutchess County up until 2014, when she relocated to New Jersey. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 37 Ladies Auxiliary and was also an avid bowler.
On January 17, 1969, she married Paul Mertlik in LaGrange. She was predeceased by her husband on January 6, 1993.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Mertlik & her husband James Rwabuhoro of Hackettstown, NJ; her son, Paul Mertlik III & his partner Karen Weatherly of Poughkeepsie; her stepsisters, Jackie Moyer, Donna Lewis, and Pauline Perrotta; her niece, Debra Papula, also many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Odell and Anthony Perrotta, Jr.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 13 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
