A Valentine's Day dispute between two brothers, sent one to the hospital, and the other to jail.

There was not much love being exchanged between two brothers on Valentine's Day in Highland, as a dispute turned ugly sending one brother to the hospital, leaving the other in handcuffs.

Police were dispatched for a report of a domestic dispute between two brothers. Peter J. Pennisi, 58 of Highland, NY was arrested for allegedly assaulting his brother with a hammer during the dispute at a residence in Highland.

The 54 year-old victim was treated at Vassar Brothers Hospital for lacerations to his head and face, and later released.

Pennisi was charged with Felony Assault second-degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon fourth-degree.

Pennisi was arraigned before Town of Marlboro Judge Kraiza and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 insurance bond.

He is due back in the Town of Lloyd Court later this week.
