Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Rescues Injured Owl
For police officers in the Hudson Valley, coming to the rescue of animals is a normal task. We've heard about cops lending a helping hand to deer, dogs, cats and even bears.
So when the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office got a call about an owl in distress, they came to the rescue.
According to their Facebook page, Deputy Kyle Geraine was able to pick up a Barred Owl on Anawana Lake Road in the Town of Thompson. It was reported that the owl was hit by a car.
Surprisingly, the owl went back to the Sheriff's office without issue and was then later handed off The Department of Environmental Conservation for rehabilitation.
Update: Police released more information about how the owl was hit and say Good Samaritans helped the bird before police arrived.
