The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office teamed with the Sullivan County NAACP for a community outreach event.

On Friday, January, 19, 2018, The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and NAACP hosted the 'Skate with the Sheriff' event at Skater’s World in Ferndale.

Approximately 100 deserving children and their parents were treated to an evening of  free roller skating, pizza and prizes courtesy of Team Schiff.

Uniformed deputy sheriff's from jail and patrol divisions were on hand to assist the children and monitor the evening's activities.

Sheriff Mike Schiff said:

It was an incredible evening. The kids were so excited and we received a lot of complements from the parents. Everyone had fun. We are lucky here in Sullivan County. We stay in touch with our community leaders so that we can diffuse any potential problems that may arise. Events like this evening’s “Skate with the Sheriff” help to solidify those relationships.

NAACP President Sandra Oxford and NAACP Secretary Elaine Williams, Darrin Edelglass who is the owner of Skater’s World, Les Kristt of Kristt Company and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, were all involved in the planning of the event.
