Police: Wanted Hudson Valley Man Leads Police on Wild, Wrong Way Chase
A wanted Hudson Valley man is facing over 10 charges after he led police on a high-speed wrong way chase while allegedly in possession of drugs.
On Sunday around 10:30 p.m., Monticello police observed a white 2016 Ford Fiesta being operated in an alleged erratic manner.
During the traffic stop, as the officer exited his car, the driver suddenly sped off at a high rate of speed, police say.
A vehicle pursuit ensued on Broadway and later the side streets along the south side of the village of Monticello.
The driver is accused of recklessly fleeing at a high rate of speed, running past stop signs, running over traffic signs and in the wrong lane of traffic on Broadway.
While being chased, the driver allegedly tossed a small plastic case out of his car. The case contained .8 grams of crack cocaine, 8 glassine envelopes of heroin and a crack pipe, police say.
Officers were finally able to get the vehicle to stop on St John Street.
The driver, 37-year-old Terrell T. Troy of Monticello, was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all misdemeanors. He was also issued 24 vehicle and traffic violation summons.
Troy was also wanted by Monticello police in a separate investigation into cashing a forged check at a Village of Monticello business in Dec. 2017, police say.
Troy was also charged with forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, felonies, and a misdemeanor of petit larceny.
Troy was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $ 50,000 bail.
