He went above and beyond duty to bring some smiles.

Lately, anytime I scroll through social media I notice that my feed is filled with completely negative news and sad stories. I get it, there is a lot going on and it can be tough to be positive, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I came across this particular video.

I belong to a community group in the area and a video was posted about a local police officer playing some basketball with a younger resident. From the pictures alone you could tell they were having a really fun time and I was able to reach out to the parent and get the full story, pictures and video.

Who Is In The Pictures/Video?

I spoke to Christa who is longtime Hudson Valley resident and she mentioned that the man in the video is Officer Bruce White and he works for the East Fishkill Police Department. She also mentioned that he is the school resource officer at John Jay High School and was recently featured in a local magazine. Wow, how awesome.

Time For Some Fun:

Christa said she was playing basketball outside with her daughter Erika on one of the beautiful days we had when Officer White drove by and they both waved at him. White stopped the car, came down the driveway and asked if he could shoot a few hoops.

After a friendly introduction and a quick conversation, Officer White gave Erika a few pointers on shooting hoops.

Looks like a lot of fun. Christa pointed out that it was a very positive experience for her daughter and she was beaming the whole time.

Thank you Officer White for being a positive role model in our community and going the extra mile for Hudson Valley residents. Also, thank you to Christa for sharing this lovely story with us.
