Police Investigate Fatal Rhinebeck Crash

The crash occurred on Friday evening on Route 9G in the Town of Rhinebeck.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. state police were dispatched to route 9G in the area of Vlei Road in the Town of Rhinebeck for a motor vehicle crash.

Initial investigation suggests that Robert J. Dancy, age 35, of Worchester, NY, operating a 1997 Ford Explorer, southbound on 9G and drove to the left of the center lane markings.

Dancy then struck northbound Emily R. Wootton, age 20, of Milton, VT, who was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Emily Wootton was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office.

Robert Dancy was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. The investigation remains on-going at this time.

Hillside Fire Department, Rhinebeck Fire Department, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics were all on scene to render aid with the crash.
