A Hudson Valley town is postponing annual trick-or-treating due to weather concerns.

If you were getting excited to go trick or treating in Orange County, you might want to put a freeze on the plans. Montgomery is postponing the planned trick or treating from Thursday, October 31 to Friday, November 1, according to their Facebook. The time will remain the same, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Village of Montgomery says that to keep kids safe during trick or treating, parents should go with the kids. They also advise inspecting candy before it is eaten and only going to homes where parents know the residents. According to their Facebook, kids should stay on the porch or front steps to receive treats.

If you plan on passing out candy, the Village of Montgomery's Facebook page asks you to leave the porch light on during trick or treat hours. This signals to parents and kids that treats are being passed out and makes it safer.
