New York State Police Honors K-9 Unit
In what State Police calls the "Dog Days of Summer," police are honoring members their Canine Unit.
Ceer of Troop G is named after Charles Perkins Sr., Ceer is trained in narcotics and cadaver detection. Ceer is also utilized for tracking and handler protection. Ceer enjoys playing fetch with the kids in his family and really enjoys chasing the family chickens on his off duty time.
Conrad of SP Cortlandt is named after Trooper James D. Conrad. Conrad is trained in explosives detection and handler protection. Conrad enjoys swimming while he is off duty.
Diff of Troop C, SP Oneonta-IP. Named after Corporal Arthur M. Diffendale, Diff is trained in narcotics detection and handler protection. Diff loves playing in the snow during the winter and swimming in the summer.
DJ of SP Catskill. Named after Trooper David J. Lane, DJ is trained in explosives detection, tracking and handler protection. DJ enjoys laying in the hammock while he is off duty.
Dobbs of Troop E, SP Horseheads. Named after Trooper Theodore Dobbs, Dobbs is trained in narcotics detection and handler protection. Dobbs enjoys swimming in New York’s Finger Lakes.
Eddy of Troop T, SP Albany. Named after Trooper Edward Cunningham, Eddy is trained in cadaver, narcotic detection and handler protection. Eddy enjoys swimming and playing with kids in the family when he is off duty.
EJ of Troop L, SP Brentwood. Named after Trooper Edward J. Sweeney, EJ is trained in narcotics detection and handler protection. In his time off, EJ likes to lounge around the house and play fetch in the backyard.
Frey of Troop G, SP Fonda. Named after Trooper John E. Frey, Frey is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and handler protection. While not on duty, Frey enjoys playing in the snow, swimming, running, going on walks with the family and chasing any toy thrown for him to retrieve.
Gerry of Troop E, SP Canandaigua. Named after Zone Sergeant Gerald Degroot, Gerry is trained in explosive detection and handler protection. Gerry loves to run in the woods and chase after her Kong.
Hudson of Troop H, CNET Capital. Named after Trooper Thomas Hudson, Hudson is trained in narcotics detection and handler protection. Hudson likes playing with the kids in his family and hiking when off duty.
Hugh of Troop D, SP Herkimer. Named after Lt. Tremain Hughes, Hugh is trained in explosives detection and handler protection. While off duty, Hugh likes to assist with chores around the house, enjoy the outdoors, and play with his canine and human brothers and sisters.
