He was a part of three Yankees World Series Champion teams and later became a Met--and now you can meet him.

With the changing landscape of American-Cuban relations, the Cuban National Baseball Team will be coming to the United States and among their stops will be in Rockland County, to take on the Rockland Boulders:

Cuban National Team will visit Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona, NY this summer when they visit the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League.

The two-time defending, regular season Can Am League champions Boulders will host the Cuban’s on June 24, 25 and 26.  In a unique twist, the games will count in the Can-Am League standings.

The Cuban National Team will embark on a 19-game, six-city trip through the Can-Am League in June. This will be their first contest against a professional American team on U.S. soil since 1999, when they visited the Baltimore Orioles as part of a two-game series.

That's not all: before the Friday night game, you'll get to watch Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez himself throw out the first pitch and even go to a meet-and-greet. According to the Rockland Boulders' website:

[F]ans can purchase the “El Duque Premium Pack” for $99, plus taxes and service fees. The package includes one (1) ticket for the Friday, June 24 game and admission to a private Meet & Greet with El Duque. Fans can then watch the game on the Sunset Deck, complete with food, beer, a cigar, and cigar cutter.

“I am very excited to be a part of this historic weekend of baseball,” said Hernandez. “An opportunity to showcase the talent of Cuban baseball players to the fans in the Lower Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey, as well as a chance to return to a region where I was fortunate enough to win three World Series titles is something I’m looking forward to very much.”
