Mary Rose Bouffard Hoben, a woman of bold spirit and heart, entered into rest on Saturday, July 8. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt, sister, sister-in-law, friend, and she had been the wife of Charles “Bob” Hoben for 62 years before his death two and a half years ago. She often spoke about missing him terribly. She was born in 1931 and was a native of Providence, Rhode Island until she moved to Newburgh, NY with her husband in 1954, where she resided until her passing. In her younger years she was part of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Town of Newburgh Ambulance Corps and ran her own in home daycare. She was a retired employee of Cintas. She had loved going dancing with her husband, enjoyed good food, and especially treasured being surrounded by family engaging in conversation and laughter. She was a keen judge of people. She had her own perspective of the world, as well as her own language that was rich with sayings. These sayings will forever remain as part of our vocabularies as we fondly remember her and smile.

She was predeceased by her parents Mary and George; her son, David; her daughter, Gail; husband Charles; brothers and sisters, George, Ronald, Lawrence, David and Jeanne; and her grandson, Bobby. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Hoben (Gardiner) and Tim Hoben (Newburgh); Tim’s wife, Karen Hoben; sister-in-law Edie and her husband Tom; sister and brother, Margie and Richard; numerous grandchildren, Eric, Michael, Danny, Brandon, Amber, Regina, Amanda, Patricia, Caitlin, Matthew, Emily, Olivia; and great grandchildren, (including Gabriel who she always loved to see); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, July 14 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.  Flowers are accepted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 15 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
