Man Impaired by Drugs Leads Police on Foot Pursuit, Police Say

The man also had 17 driving suspensions, a suspended registration, and was in possession of a controlled substance.

Matthew L. Garcia, 24 of Fishkill, NY was stopped in his Kia for a license plate violation. Upon being stopped, Garcia fled on foot, and was taken into custody shortly thereafter with assistance from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Operating with a Suspended Registration & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (having 17 active suspensions).

Garcia was processed and later released to the New York State Police who held an active warrant for his arrest.
