A popular Upstate New York concert venue has announced that starting in 2025 they will be making a huge change that will affect many concertgoers.

As 2024 winds down many of us are preparing to plan out which concerts we might buy tickets for in 2025 to see some of our favorite artists live and in person. Too early? I think not as many venues across New York have already begun announcing concerts scheduled for 2025 including Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center

SPAC is one of New York's most popular outdoor amphitheaters located on the grounds of Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, New York. Since the 1960s SPAC has been a great venue to see popular artists from various genres of music giving concertgoers the option of buying tickets for a seat under the pavilion or lawn seats to watch the show from the lawn area.

Ground Rule Change at SPAC

For many years lawn seats have always been a less expensive ticket and anyone who purchased one had the option of bringing in their own lawn chair to set up at the concert. That will no longer be the case as SPAC and Live Nation have announced a change to the venue's ground rules for summer concerts in 2025.

SPAC & Live Nation Say No

According to WRGB, summer concertgoers in 2025 will no longer be permitted to bring their own outside lawn chairs to Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Instead in 2025, anyone who would like a lawn chair will have to rent it at the venue for an additional $15 per chair.

Lawn chairs will be available at most concerts and must be turned in at the end of each show. The change only applies to Live Nation shows including the already announced Thomas Rhett, Rod Stewart, Weird Al Yankovic, and Goo Goo Dolls shows.

How to Rent a Lawn Chair at SPAC

You can rent a chair at the same time you purchase your concert tickets on the Live Nation website. Simply click on the concert you want to attend, click on "Upgrades Available", and then click "Lawn Chair Rental." The cost of the chair rental will be included in your invoice for the tickets.

Wow! Look Who/What Was Born in Upstate New York!

Upstate New York can lay claim to being the birthplace of many famous people and many famous things. And also a lot of infamous ones to. This is a fun gallery of a selection of "birthplaces" in our region. You may have heard of some of them, maybe not. As for me, I was more than a little surprised when I stumbled upon many of these while doing research for my many Upstate New York books. The biggest surprise? Guess where the "Birthplace of the Electric Age" is? How about in the remote forests near the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain! It is an incredible story. Check it out here.
