Irene Anne Lindenberger, a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 53
Irene Anne Lindenberger, of Newburgh, a teacher, and a long-time area resident, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Beth Israel Hospital from complications following heart transplant surgery. She was 53.
The daughter of Jean (DeGaris) and the late Gerard F. Lindenberger, Irene was born on April 17, 1964 in Nyack, NY. Irene graduated from Clarkstown South High School, earned an Associate’s Degree from Rockland County Community College. Irene loved teaching! She returned to school in her thirties, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Multi-Cultural Studies at SUNY New Paltz earning the distinction, summa cum laude and was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi honor society. She continued as a permanent substitute in Cornwall Central School District after graduation and later as a primary education teacher at The English Rose Day School in Washingtonville.
Irene combined an exuberant love of life with a kind heart and positive spirit. When you think of Irene, you think of JOY and her BIG SMILE!
Irene was very active in the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM.) heart disease online community. There she provided support for those waiting for transplants, like herself, as well as for those in various stages of recovery
In addition to her friend and Mom, Jean, Irene is survived by her sister-in-law, Kerry Lindenberger of Cornwall-on-Hudson; a niece, Hailey Lindenberger and her nephew, Matthew Lindenberger, each of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Irene was predeceased by her brother, Terence Lindenberger on January 31, 2017.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 1 to 3PM, Saturday, January 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 3 PM at the funeral home.
