An investigation determined that the driver, identified as 36-year-old Daniel Hornbeck, of Wappinger Falls, was driving while intoxicated. He was subsequently charged with a misdemeanor DWI.

Police say Hornbeck had a passenger with him, an unnamed male. Both were extricated from the car by the Cronmer Valley Fire Department. The driver was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say no one was inside the building when the car crashed into it.

Hornbeck was given an appearance ticket and is due in Town of Newburgh Court March 28.
