A Hudson Valley man was convicted of using social media to send lewd photos to lure a child.

Roshan Samuel, 33, of Tarrytown, was convicted by a Westchester County Jury on two counts of 1st-degree dissemination indecent material to minors, class D felonies.

According to the prosecution, in October of 2014, Samuel engaged in sexual conversations with a 14-year-old girl at Alexander Hamilton High School. Samuel believed the girl was 16-year-old.

Around Oct. 21, 2014, Samuel sent the child text messages describing sexual acts and inviting her to engage in sexual activity. Officials say around 2:30 pm. Samuel arrived at the high school parking lot. Video shows the girl enter and exit Samuel’s vehicle. It’s believed there was no physical contact between the two.

A day or two later Samuel sent two photographs of his genitals with explicit messages to the girl indicating he wanted to have sex with her.

School officials were notified by the victim’s mother about the contact between two. Police were notified and the school was able to provide video of the girl entering Samuel’s car at the high school as well as screenshots from the cellphone used by the victim.

Samuel remains at Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 20. He faces 3-7 years in prison.
