If you want to be the first to experience LEGOLAND when it opens in Goshen, you'll need to act quickly this week.

LEGOLAND New York is on schedule to open up just about one year from now in Goshen. The 150-acre theme park and 250-room hotel is promising to be a major tourist destination like nothing else we've ever seen in the Hudson Valley.

While crews are busy moving lots of dirt around, attractions and buildings are already being designed and assembled off site. The park's footprint just off of Route 17 is expected to be bustling with activity this summer as rides and attractions start rising from the ground.

On Thursday the LEGOLAND team will be holding an official launch party at the World Trade Center in New York. An enormous LEGO model will be unveiled that will take its place in the park's Miniland when it opens in 2020. The event will also kick off sales of the park's limited "First To Play" pass which will get you and your family into the park before it officially opens.

Hudson Valley residents who have already signed up for LEGOLAND New York's newsletter won't have to wait until Thursday, however, to grab their passes. An email was sent out Wednesday morning with a special 24 hour pre-sale link for locals who want to make sure to get a pass before they disappear.

The passes include 12 months admission to LEGOLAND starting on the first day you use it. The limited edition pass will also get you in to a special pre-opening Preview Day event before the park opens next spring. The preview doesn't count as your first day of use, so you'll still have a whole year of LEGOLAND to use after your second visit to the park. The preview event will only be available for people who purchase the limited number of "First To Play" passes. Once they're gone, the event will be closed to everyone else.

Passes are $94.99 per person. Anyone 3 years or older will need to have their own pass to enter the park. Other perks include a special offers and events at LEGOLAND just for pass members.

This low-priced promotional pass does include blackout dates during holidays and busy summer weeks, but can be upgraded for no cost once other tiers of passes are announced after the park opens. Currently the price for a one day admission to LEGOLAND Florida is $90.99, so being able to visit the park as many times as you like for only $4 more seems like a ridiculous deal, and one that will quickly sell out.

If you didn't sign up for the email and need to wait until Thursday to buy your passes, you might want to check the LEGOLAND website early and often to make sure you don't miss out. A countdown clock on the website shows that passes will officially go on sale at 10am on Thursday.
