For those who use marijuana for medical reasons here in the Hudson Valley, here's some good news for you.

On Tuesday, August 1, the New York State Department of Health announced through a press release that they will be adding an additional five registered organizations to the Medical Marijuana program.

New York State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said New York State is dedicated to growing the states Medical Marijuana program responsibly. Zucker also discussed the importance of the additional registered organizations saying "The addition of these registered organizations will make it easier for patients across the state to obtain medical marijuana, improve the affordability of medical marijuana products through the introduction of new competition, and increase the variety of medical marijuana products available to patients."

Three of these registered organizations will be located in the Hudson Valley. Citiva Medical and Valley Agriceuticals will manufacture out of Orange County. PalliaTech NY will manufacture out of Ulster.

Citiva will have dispensaries in Dutchess, Chemung, Kings and Richmond Counties, while Valley Agriceuticals dispensaries will be located in Kings, Oneida, Suffolk, and Dutchess Counties. PalliaTech NY dispensaries will be located in Nassau, Orange, Queens, and Clinton counties.
