Gladys E. Lawlor, a New Windsor Resident, Dies at 91
Gladys E. Lawlor, 91, a lifetime New Windsor resident, was taken peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born June 29, 1926 in Middlehope, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Serviss and Gladys (Dayton) Serviss Simonson, and stepdaughter to the late Robert Simonson. She was married to the late William “Butch” Lawlor, who predeceased her in 1992.
Gladys was an employee at Strooks in Newburgh for many years, and retired from Newburgh Molding.
Survivors include her children, William Lawlor, Cheryl Keegan and her husband Robert, Jacqueline Buck and her husband Fred, and Theresa DeStefano; daughter-in-law Christine Lawlor; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband Butch, Gladys was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Groff, her son John “Jeffrey” Lawlor, two daughters, Michelle and Maureen Lawlor, and daughter-in-law Sharon Lawlor.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, October 26 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 27 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh, with burial following in Mt. St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.
