Gary E. Thorne, A Longtime Hudson Valley Resident, Dies at 69

Gary E. Thorne, 69, an area resident for 40 years, died on September 3, 2016 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Norfolk, VA on April 22, 1947, he was the son of Gill and Bunny Vincent Thorne. Gary was the owner and operator of Serenity Electronics in Poughkeepsie. An avid golfer, he enjoyed visiting casinos and collecting sports memorabilia. He was also a fan of Jackie Gleason and Mickey Mantle.

On November 22, 2003 at his home, Gary married Ulrike Preuss who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Ryan Thorne, his fiancé Stevi, and their daughter Zoey of Huntington Beach, CA; his niece, Stephanie Thorne Broche; his business partner, Mark Cain of Beacon; and his devoted dogs, Diesel and Jackson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nicole Thorne; and his brother, Greg Thorne.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill followed by a funeral service at 7pm.
