Gaetano "Tom" Calcagno, 89, of Glasco, passed Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sicily, Italy on October 18, 1926 the son of the late Giuseppe and Ignazia Calcagno.

He was the husband of the late Angela Lunardo Calcagno; she died on March 13, 2009. Gaetano came to this country in 1954 with wife and family. They lived in Brooklyn before moving to Saugerties in 1971.

He was founder of the Village Pizza restaurant group, which started in Saugerties. He loved to cook, hunt, travel in his RV and work in his garden.

Gaetano is survived by his children Maria DeGraff of Brooklyn, Lucy Mazzella and her husband Al of Staatsburg and Joseph Calcagno and his wife Angela of Saugerties, grandchildren, Rodney Mazzella

and his significant other Jenn Kelly, Robert DeGraff and his wife Chris Ann, Jennifer Altrui and her husband Damien, Stephanie McGill and her husband Devin, and Joseph Calcagno, Jr.; great grandchildren, Maximilian, Luca, Michael, Elena, Robbie, Olive and Willa

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, family and friends will be received on Sunday and Monday from 2 – 4 p.m. & 7 – 9 p.m.

The procession will form on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Keyser's. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's RC Church, Glasco at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Mary of The Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights. Please leave a condolence for the family at www.KeyserCarr.com.
