Elizabeth “Betty” Tegtmeier, a Stormville Resident, Dies at 83
STORMVILLE – Elizabeth “Betty” Tegtmeier, 83, died on September 17, 2017 at Vassar Brother Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born at White Plains Hospital on May 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elsie (Fisher) Strassburg. She grew up in Hartsdale before moving to the Bronx. Betty graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx. She then moved from Pelham Bay to the Crestwood neighborhood of Yonkers to raise her family. After her children grew up, she took great pride in working at Filene’s Basement in Scarsdale for many years.
Betty was very active with the East Fishkill Senior Center where she made many friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Robert and his wife Amy Tegtmeier, Steven Tegtmeier, and Suzanne Carroll and her husband Robert and her grandchildren. Natalie and Evan Tegtmeier and Ryan and Amanda Carroll. Betty was predeceased by her husband Heinz Tegtmeier in 1990; her son, Kurt Tegtmeier in 2014; her infant granddaughter, Emily Marie in 2002; and her siblings, Bob Strassburg, Alice Bernhard, and Louise Mussolini.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
