County Executive Marcus Molinaro has announced a local farm will be saved for posterity through a partnership with the Dutchess Land Conservancy, Scenic Hudson and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Duncandale Farm has been in the Duncan family since the 1700's and is currently owned and maintained by Donald and Sharon Duncan. Spread out over 182 acres, they produce on average 7,000 bales of hay per year that benefit local horse, goat and sheep farms in the area.

This conservation effort is part of the Partnership for Manageable Growth (PMG) passed by the Dutchess County Legislature in 2016. According to County Executive Moliaro, the "PMG allows us to work with state and local partners to preserve critical farmland, providing a vital, diverse and growing economic engine throughout the County'.

Basically the Duncan's have sold off their future development rights ensuring the farm will remain farmland for generations to come.
