Dutchess County Fairgrounds Giving Back

Yes the fair is canceled BUT they're still helping the Hudson Valley.

This week has been full of disappointing news with two of our county fairs announcing that they are postponing or canceling. The two fairs respectively are the Ulster County Fair, which postponed until next summer and the Dutchess County Fair which has officially canceled until next summer have made an extremely hard decision to pull the plug on two of our favorite events but there are still things happening that can make a difference.

We got to speak to the CEO/president of the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Andy Imperati, who told us how hard and emotional it was to have to cancel the fair but wanted to remind us that they are working on doing some events to help out the community.

He said they are working on "helping the high schools in the Rhinebeck area with their graduations and possibly having them at the fairgrounds at some point." They are also helping the community with two events at the fairgrounds including a drive-up food pantry on Saturday’s between 10am – 1pm until further notice.

Andy also told us about a blood drive that is currently scheduled for Wednesday June 10th at the fairgrounds and another blood drive with the American Red Cross scheduled on the fairgrounds on Monday, June 15th from 10am til 5pm.

As far as any other events that are scheduled to be held at the fairgrounds for the rest of the year, Andy said that "all of the fall events scheduled will be looked at on a case by case basis as time goes by and they will start making those decisions towards the middle to end of August."
