Dr. Soon Hong Kwon, Longtime Area Doctor, Dies at 80

LaGrangeville – Dr. Soon Hong Kwon, 80, died on September 2, 2016 at his home.

Born in Korea on February 1, 1936, he was the son of Hyuck Jung Kwon and Poong Ja Lee. Dr. Kwon was an Anesthesiologist at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie for 25 years until his retirement in 2000. An avid reader, he had lived in Wappingers Falls and the Bronx prior to moving to LaGrangeville.

On July 15, 1972 in Queens, Dr. Kwon married Okyoung Chung who survives at home. He is also survived by two children, two grandchildren and six brothers.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at 1pm.
