Deborah A. Rooney, an Area Resident, Dies at 61

Deborah A. Rooney, 61, died on July 23, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Scranton, PA on January 23, 1956, she was the daughter of Bernard and Ellen (Scholz) O’Neill. Deborah had worked as a Librarian’s Assistant for the Spackenkill School District for 15 years. She had been an area resident for 39 years and previously resided in Baldwin

On April 15, 1978 in Baldwin, Deborah married William Rooney who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Diane Roach and her husband John of Cohasset, MA, William Rooney and his fiancé Jessica Vennetucci of New Windsor, and Nicole Rooney of Astoria; her grandchildren, John Roach III, Liam Roach, Blake Roach and William Rooney; her brother, Kevin O’Neill; her sisters, Donna Heald and Renee Narsavage; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
