Daniel P. Collins, a Newburgh Resident, Dies at 80
Daniel P. Collins of the Town of Newburgh entered into rest Monday, May 15, 2017. He was 80 years old.
He was a lifelong resident of NYC. After his retirement from the NYC Transit Police as a patrolman, he and his wife Jeanette (Papura) Collins retired to Myrtle Beach, SC. After the passing of his wife he moved to the Town of Newburgh with his son, Paul. Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 thru 1958.
The son of the late Dennis and Jean (Schwarska) Collins, he was born May 3, 1937 in Manhattan.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Paul Collins of the Town of Newburgh, three grandchildren; Jake, Dan and Megan; brother, Edward Collins and sister, Katherine Groppi.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
Memorial visitation will take place Monday, May 22nd from 10 a.m. to Noon at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte32) Town of Newburgh.
Funeral service will commence at Noon following visitation at the funeral home. Father John Vondras will officiate
