Boris Alexander Nachamkin, 84, of London, England, died on February 14, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in New York City on December 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Abraham and Violet (Lotman) Nachamkin. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn where he was a two-time All New York City basketball player. He earned a basketball scholarship to New York University where he was a formidable, highly-respected figure on the court and a leader of the Violets during three varsity seasons. He set single-season and career NYU records for points scored and is a member of the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame. He graduated NYU/Stern in 1954 and was selected in the second round of the 1954 NBA Draft by the Rochester Royals. His promising NBA career was cut short when he was drafted into the US army.

After his discharge from the service, he had a 36-year career with Bankers Trust, where he rose to the Head of Global Shipping in London.

Boris was a loyal, devoted, loving family man, leaving behind his wife of 53 years, Anne-Margrete Nachamkin, son and daughter-in-law, Nikolai & Sherrie Nachamkin, and two grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew. He enjoyed simple pleasures. He had an enormous heart and generous spirit. He will be dearly missed.
